Hello All,
A strange thing happened the other day while I was driving. As I went 3/4's of the way around a roundabout I was greeted by a rather loud 'whirring & clicking' noise then 'clunk', - followed by silence!
It was rather a cold day and soon realised I was getting no heat in the car due to no blower fan operation.
I took the car home and consulted a few videos, then removed the blower fan to see what was wrong, all was fine and it ran perfectly.
However, after putting it back and clearing the tools from the foot well it appeared that i had gained something extra.
Lying in the foot well was a rubber cover or shroud. Its about 2 1/2" long (6.5 cm). I'm sure it wasn't there before, so it must have fallen out of the 'blower hole' when I removed the blower.
So, can anyone identify it for me please and if so:-
What is it ?
Where is it from?
Is it detrimental to the safe running of the car?

Kind regards to all
Royville.

If it was an MB part there would be a part number on it

FIND THE PART NO ON THE MYSTERY OBJECT THEN DO A SEARCH ON THE NUMBER ON GOOGLE-IT WILL START WITH THE LETTER A-------------- ITS PROBABLY SOME FLEXIBLE DUCTING ASSOCIATED WITH THE HEATER/AIRCON SYSTEM

POST YOUR VIN NUMBER ON THE FORUM -- MAY HELP

Hi grober and W1ghty,
There aren't any marks on this 'thing' at all, - inside or out.
But I too think it must be something to do with the air system, - that's my concern!
I will see how to put the VIN No on the forum.
Thanx
Royville.

I don’t think it’s an MB part without a number

Royville Can i just say, its not a good idea to put your vin number in your profile .You can put it in to your post . And then edit it out later on and remove it .This way it is safer for you . So much going on today with cloning of motor cars that vin number could be used .

Hi optimusprime:
Thank you for the heads up, I should have known better.
VIN now removed.

Royville.

I searched high and low .But i came up empty handed .i even used an image search on Google . Unusual for the part not to have a part numberon it .Most things made to day have a pat number of some sorts.

Rotville To use image search . Bring up Google search page .Now look up to the right .You will see the word images .
Click on images .The page will change .In the box you will see a image of a camera .
Click on to camera .Then up load a file .Click on that .
But before you can do this you need to have a picture of the item in question in your picture folder .
So now you click on up load a file,, it will take you to your pictures , then you right click on the picture and click select .Everything after this is automatic .

Hi All,
Thanks for your responses. I've just tried the image search (thanks 'optimusprime') but to no avail.
I've booked the car in for MOT and a service next week, I'll take the mystery object with me to see if they can shed any light on it. If not - Oh well, it doesn't seem to be any worse off without it so maybe it will have to remain a mystery in the end.
I'll keep you informed of the outcome anyway.
Thanks all
Roy.

Hi All,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Well I had the car M.O.T'd and serviced and all went OK with no problems at all, and I showed them the 'mystery' rubber part and guess what? - No body knew what it was!
So I'm not going to bother about it any more and just put it away safe somewhere - just in case!
Thank you all for your interest.
Roy.
