Car buying bleat.

I look forward to seeing it with the correct Lancia badges!

Sweet. You get the car you want at a bargain price.

Well, picked up the car today and so far very impressed. A mixed drive of ~50 miles home, it never felt slow despite its diminutive engine, pleasantly punchy in fact. Traveling at the NSL going up a big hill on the A31 there was no need to change down, and urban acceleration is more than up to the job.

It's a different drive to the Panda (with its 16v engine and close ratio 6 speed gearbox), but none the worse. I will have to get used to the noise though, with half the amount of cylinders and much higher gear ratios it's all too easy to stray over the urban speed limits.

From initial experience, it's comfy for what it is. OK, it's no S-class, but the Panda had no suspension at all. Given that the Panda was aimed at teenage tearaways, that's fine, but my back ain't getting any younger. I think the Ypsilon'll be economical too, given that the fuel gauge barely moved on the journey home and I wasn't particularly driving with economy in mind.

I was also heartened to discover that the handbook came with the Lancia logo, and also a small ziplock bag containing some foam tabs for curing rattles and some self-tapping screws for securing things that drop off. It is a proper Lancia after all :)

Apparently it's easy enough to remap to another 20 or so BHP, and it's not heavy so 100HP/tonne is there for the asking.

I think I'll leave the Goodwood heroics to Neil and the mental Fiat 500 though..

Cheers,

Gaz

Can you change the Chrysler logo on the instrument cluster LCD display to Lancia?

The Lancia logo still brings about a small Adrenaline rush :D

A friend has a red 8V Delta Integrale..... real classic.

'Twould be a dull world if we all liked the same thing. I think it's a funky looking little thing, more interesting than a Fiesta/Corsa/Hyundai whatever..

Add Audi A1 to that list.

I cannot think of a worse looking car to buy. Other than Chryslers in the range such as the Neon.

Even the 300C has lost its lustre now.

Buying one would be like admitting you like the Fiat Multipla

Well, the deed is done! Signed on the dotted line today for this one, pick it up Friday once it's had a service and a fresh MOT..

For a little car it's loaded with toys, leather, air, front and rear parking sensors, auto (parallel) park, cruise control, the whole shebang. A comedy engine too, 875 cc and two cylinders of turbocharged fury :D. OK, it's not going to win many drag races but the torque is actually very impressive - it's not a high-revving lump (it's all over by 6000 rpm) but in the midrange it punches well above its weight. Certainly it's gruntier than the Panda it's replacing, which is a 1.4..

It's a 61 plate with 25K miles, but TBH it's completely unmarked, it looks like a new car. Got a good deal on it too, so I'm a happy bunny :thumb:.

Cheers,

Gaz

What a blinder!lol

That's really constructive. Actually, if I'd seen somebody else's post regarding their new car and didn't like like it I'd just button my lip. But that's just me.

I don't know you, Stuart, and to be honest I'm comfortable with that. Let's keep it that way :)

FYI, I don't have a problem with the Multipla either. It's not for me, I think it's a bit fugly, but each to their own, eh?

Cheers,

Gaz

Funny really, mention the chav chariot C63 in a negative light and he gets all upset yet he feels the need to be disparaging about anything not to his liking.

I'm not that bothered what others think. I don't buy my cars to please others. I'm happy and that's all that matters :thumb:

Haha, he does come across as a bit of a bitch in his posts.
