Im thinking of upgrading the burr walnut inserts on my C280 elegance, pre-facelift. I like the carbon effect on the sport models. Any idea how much all the bits would be from MB, or does anyone know another decent supplier of the same quality and finish as the MB ones? I beleive I would need:

1-Dash top strip

2-four door inserts

3-panel where the heater controls and hazard switch is

4-ashtray

5-panel around gearshift and window buttons

6-cubby hole door in front of armrest

Thanks in advance.:bannana:

AFAIK the interior trim pieces are pretty expensive from MB (easily into the several £000's!). You would be better off looking for a damaged W202 sport in a breaker's yard or keep an eye out on eBay etc. Remember that depending on which options your model has it may be tricky to find panels for the gearshift surround and heater controls which have the same cut-outs for the different options (eg, heated seats etc).

In addition to the parts that you mention, you may wish to upgrade the door pillar trims as well (these are in a carbon finish on the 'sport' models too)

Good luck with the 'upgrade', although I must say that I'd be tempted to leave it unless you can find the parts very cheaply and are 100% convinced on the change :)

Good luck :)

Ask R2D2 - I think he did this mod recently (to his old car - er just before selling it LOL).

LOL. Mercman supplied the parts at reasonable price. The doors are more easily done by replacing the whole door cards as the carbon trims are kind of heat welded in spots onto the door card, therefore removing them is a so and so and replacing them even harder. Getting good condition, matching- ie similiarly aged parts and then fitting them is hard. Like Will said you got to REALLY want to do this mod to be bothered. If you go ahead I might have one spare trim in the garage still.

OOOOH-Now you guys have got me thinking....er....ummm...er......maybe...er....NO NO NO.....Dont fancy having a go at plastic spot welding, cos knowing my luck the door trims will rattle forever and I will end up crying for months. Dont really want to replace my door cards either as they are absolutely mint and also leather. Looks like my mod is off then..Thanks for the info guys.:bannana:
