CarPlay

Hi Everyone, I did check the suggestions but they don't refer to my query so here we go.

My car is a Merc A250 AMG Line 2021 and i am trying to activate CarPlay. My understanding is that CarPlay is a software on my iphone. I am also aware that my car is CarPLay ready.
Now when i try to activate CP using the methods found on the internet i don't see my iphone content. The method i have been using is - start engine, connect iphone via usb to accesory socket and press the voice button on the steering wheel.
Mercedes offer the Smartphone Integration pack and i am wondering if i need this to use with CarPlay or do i only need to use my iphone. Maybe i'm misunderstanding hoe to activate CarPlay.

Can anyone help me here and provide details on how i can do this thing correctly ?.

In your apps menu on the car, do you see one that says smartphone? If not, you will probably need to pay for it on Mercedes Me.

Usually on car, if it says it is ‘something’ ready, then it means the car can do it, but you need to pay for it.

Are you using a genuine lead, power and data ?? .
I had a bit of a problem with mine initially, firstly the phone was older than the car ..so got a new one.
Now I connect the phone once the car is running, I then power cycle the phone and the phone is connected..

As it happens I did try that after my last post and guess what it worked first time brilliant and so simple in the end, thanks to everyone.

It is a bit, but I prefer to use Waze so need the phone connected with a cable, via Bluetooth I get MB maps. What I need is a five year old to set it up and show me how it all works…

I have a wireless dongle intead of a cable connection for Carplay. I works without fiddling about with cables and the phone can be anywhe in range.
The only time I use a cable is if the phone needs charging.
