Cat D SLK

Service books are often stolen from the cars at the auction (often by auction staff) along with CD changers, satnav disks, spare wheels, jacks, cigarette lighters, tool kits and all sorts of trim.
You have to wonder where people like this and this get their 'stock'

Main dealer bodyshops are the ultimate car rapists, once they know a car is written off and waiting for Universals to collect, any loose bits are liberated.

I know an indi who had a written off w210 back when they were proper cars, and he had the alloys, all the packs, the central locking pump, the headlight, avavtgarge grille, stereo and changer etc.

He either took or swapped with duff bits, and had so much away the salvage company complained, but he did sell them their service pack back to them in the end...

Ruthless garages...

Reliability wise, no idea - but the V6 is NA and has no supercharger, so I'd assume it was also cheaper to maintain in the long run.
The 230k uses less fuel for similar performance, costs about half the amount to service (less oil, 4 spark plugs compared to 12 for the V6) and is no less reliable. No maintenance is required with regard to the blower although at 200k mine is about ready for an oil change and a bearing checkup to be on the safe-side.

It was the manager of Universal that posted me back the CD changer for a car I bought there after I told him that I knew the car was delivered with it. He said he unscrewed it for safe keeping but forgot to leave it with the key or note it on the computer  I never did get the ECU back
Universal staff strip the cars before they auction them. Even at the highest level they see it as a perk, disgusting really.
