Hi guys i was thinking of getting the cd changer for my 2003 W211 and i have noticed that there are cd types and mp3 types can my Audio 20 handle the mp3 cd changer, and is it a simple plug it in connection. Thanks..

hi , my e class is a 2004 and has dash board cd interchanger , it plays mp3 as does the single slot in the ntg 1 unit .

it will play both cd and mp3 , even when mixed.

I believe the MP3 changer is just a direct substitute for the CD type. I looked into it when my cd changer started playing up, but as I have now fixed it, did not go any further.
I did learn that you can only have one, or the other though. As I like the option of a cd sometimes, and the satnav utilises the other slot, I stuck with cds, and use an external mp3 player through the aux socket.

Easy enough to retrofit. You need a CD changer (MP3 capable one. they look same), and a wiring kit which includes power and fibre

https://www.commandonline.co.uk/W211-W219-CD-Changer-fitting-kit.html

The power goes to the fusebox at end of dashboard (on driver's side) and the wakeup distributor on the passenger side (and ground, can't remember which side).

If you don;t have any other fibre optic controlled systems (phone, voice recognition, Audio-20-with-Cassette or COMAND) then you'll need the head unit configured with Star Diagnosis
