I have an '03, E320 petrol which has done 68k.
I am having it serviced soon - should I have the ATF fluid replaced?
It is running fine but I have no service record of this fluid being done.

Yes.

It should have been done at 37,500 miles / 4 years.

ATF and filter change.

Make sure the garage also drains and changes the ATF in the Torque Converter.

And preferably they should use MB original ATF.

Ideally this should be done by a Merc specialist.

I'm assuming that the 03 uses a 722.6 5 speed. I could be wrong however for cars outside the US. Make sure that you use ATF that is compatible with MB 236.10 specifications and have them replace the electrical plug. If it's a 722.9 7 speed, then you'll need to use fluid that meets 236.12 spec.

Yes - on the 5g autoboxes, the pilot bush often develops a leak, and given its age it's a good idea to have it replaced while doing the ATF change.

If it's a W211, check if you have the original Valeo rad (google it).

Good opportunity to ditch it as the atf lines run into it so you lose a bit which has to be topped back up. I got a Nissens replacement for my 04 CLK on eBay for under £100.
