About 99% sure the answer is Yes. I always change them because I'm in the UK and TMC is useful, but i'm pretty sure I recall a couple of people who have not bothered outside Europe.

helo ,i un with the tmc function...
now i m comfused with the AGW,,if i wanna use ntg2.5,isit i have to take out the agw??so if i take out,consider there will no more using agw in my car...
and what is the different with

See post #20 I have already listed what you need and Richard has given you the link to the wiring kit you need in post #19.

When you install the Comand NTG2.5 everything is built into the headunit including a dual tuner so the old AGW is not needed.

The difference between the two models of Comand NTG2.5 is one unit has single dvd and the other has a 6 disc dvd changer built in. No other difference.

You current cd changer wont work with Comand NTG2.5 so remove it before installing the Comand NTG2.5 so you can sell it on if you wish.

Just buy a "European" COMAND-APS NTG1 unit for W211. That will replace the head unit directly, play MP3 in the DVD drive. No configuration needed, just swop.

If you then want navigation, you add navigation drive in the boot and buy the very expensive map disk for Malaysia.

Changing what you have is very difficult as you have the Audio-20- CASSETTE. This has the amplifier (AGW) in the boot, so the speaker wires are all in the wrong place for any aftermarket unit.

You can retrofit the phone system. BUT, if you are going to do that, its almost much as complicated as fitting NTG2.5 to your car.

If you read my NTG1 retrofit document (for cars with Audio-20-CD) on Mercedes Electronics upgrades, installation and retrofits (I have posted link to that) - if you are happy with doing *all* the work in there and have a friendly person with Star Diagnosis, then fit NTG2.5 otherwise dont.

can i knw how to change this whole unit to the comand player or any other unit whic i can play dvd,mp3, and ext.....

You can use total media player..which support all the file format...!
