Hi I am charging my battery. With engine of? Is that right. Charged old cars years ago but these cars and chargers are completely different nowadays. TIA

Assuming your charger is good and a modern ‘smart’ one, it’s absolutely fine to charge on the car.
If it looks like this, don’t bother.
