Cheap S500 or can of worms?

Very tempted !! and only about 30 miles away from me. Cant somehow see my wife sharing my enthusiasm for bringing home a 5 litre V8.

problem with cars without an MOT is that you cant road test them. Sure you can hear them running but you can't test

the brakes
the steering
the gearbox
the differential
the prop shaft
the drive shafts
the ABS
the ASR
the suspension[ much]
the cooling system [ much]

a major problem with any of those might set you back at least the purchase price of the car

LWB in BLACK [ EX FUNERAL DIRECTOR??] first of the new S class model I would avoid like the plague. Funnily enough an EARLIER W140 in a nice colour at that money [and the condition that would imply] might be a steal.:dk:

Very early one being a 1999.... Are these early ones not likely to be the worst of the bunch of a already very complex car?

cheap and well specced enough for a punt i reckon if you wanted an S. I'm actually tempted with that one and may even bid!

It's taxed is it not, a quick blast around the block should not see anyone being arrested.

My bet advertised as "Selling as Spares or repair" might be used as a reason by the seller to preclude a road test but one can only ask? Certainly wouldn't entertain it without!

Very expensive to fix if they go wrong.
Airmatic pump a common fault over £ 600 to fix
Maf is anther one Over £ 200 to fix
16 spark plugs anther £ 200
Don’t ask about coil pacts ect
Barge pole springs to mind.

Would be well better of looking for one that’s bean properly serviced and they don’t cost much ore than this one.
Cheers KJ

Mine went and a new one from MB was £300ish inc fitting.

Mine was just over £300 for pump and relay on an S430
