Cheap SLK32 ...

Big miles, anyway how fast are these? as you don't hear much about them.
Are they fast or Faaaaaaast?

Faaaaaaaaaaaaast ....

they can be a handful though... check the bodywork as if some clever sod decided to switch the traction off, its almost impossible to keep straight!

I agree. I've played with one and contemplated buying one for about half an hour - then after playing thought I'll kill myself or someone else. They are very fast but the back end is so light when going at speed so they become quite skittish on corners. Great fun - but bit too much for day to day running around in. But if you want something that can be great fun and fast and have the skill to control it - then a great buy.

That one has got high milage though so would put me off.

The latter!!

Think of it as a hot rod rather than a delicately balanced sports car.

It looks a little tired, but you'd expect it at that mileage. The wheels aren't original, and I reckon the supercharger has been replaced.

Why do I think that? Well the later cars (2003 MY onwards) had a signed plate on top of the supercharger, the earlier ones didn't. However that car has the flat area on top of the SC ready to accept the plate.

I almost bought one three or four years ago, but found the tombstone seats unforgiving for my frame - got back ache during the test drive. Then found out I couldn't use a two-seater or convertible for business use at the new company I was moving to. Three strikes so it was out. :(

OK I've been mulling this over & thought I'd go for it,tried to check on a valuation none could be given with the reg shown on car?
Got a few Online insurance quotes through Compare & there site could not find the car listed with this Reg?

So had a bright idea, went to list it on E bay as a seller, tapped in the reg number & this is what it told me it was assigned to

2001 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY TD5 ES BLUE.........

anyone ?

Comes up as a SLK32 on all the sites ive checked, are you sure you have typed the reg in correctly?

PO51 VLS

Edit: MID no longer have it on their records - most likely its been SORN by the dealer.

Killer I tried it with an O & a 0 but the 2 Insurance compare sites dont know this reg ? & e bay well as above. Since then I have tried a different valuation site which it does come up on as a SLK but cannot value it,probably because of the miles.

What has surprise me is the difference between a quote on my old M3 & this car the SLK is over £100 cheaper to insure ???
which is mad as theSLK's parts are bound to be more expensive & it goes a lot faster than my old M3 could ever go ?

IMHO AMGs are relatively cheap to insure. Part of the appeal. ;)

I better not mention the thrust that 354PS and 450NM gives when you hold your foot down on the loud pedal, rather than just giving a quick prod.

Nor that there are now heaps of affordable performance modifications which would take you to the naughty side of 400bhp with ease.

I definitely won't mention that with the roof down you can hear the supercharger, induction roar, and exhaust even more than the saloon.

No, mentioning that stuff would be just wrong.

The best bit about a SLK, it had a proper handbrake! Small car, bucket load of power and a handbrake = hours of fun!!!

I hope you aren't insinuating you were doing handbrake turns in the carpark of McDonalds in the small hours ;)

That would be irresponsible ............ but such fun .... :D
