Picking the SL up weds and it has a full MB history Im told and has just had a B at MB Southend, I assume it has Mobilo but how do I check ? call them (number?) and once they have the reg i guess they will tell me or is there another way.

If I need to call them to check can anyone advise the number please

Training it to Southend, 1st class Lpool to Euston £50 - bargain !!!

Thanks guys, looks like the car qualifies
And I'm right in thinking if you keep it serviced you keep mobilo.
I will call mb Southend on weds just to make sure. If I am unlucky and something happens on the way home I want someone to call.

trouble is if the car has missed even 1 service at MB dealer, Mobilo Life is lost forever .. it cannot be reinstated even if serviced at an MB dealer again

From the link posted above

"Technical breakdown cover can be renewed from the third year on completion of a scheduled service at a Mercedes-Benz Official Workshop, until the next service is due. This cover can be renewed for up to thirty years, from the initial registration date."

It can if it is after 2004 and you get the next service at MB

And for '98 to '03

"Mobile Assist offers extra peace of mind with complimentary roadside assistance cover for 12 months upon completion of a Mercedes-Benz Official Workshop service.

It applies to all Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars* registered between 24 October 1998 and 31 December 2003 which do not have a complete Mercedes-Benz service history.

*Excludes V-Class, Viano and Vaneo"

Good luck on Weds-Welcome to the wonderful world of SL ownership-You are gonna:thumb: have a huge smile on your journey home!

Out of curiosity... when you call out the Mobilo recovery service, how do they know if you are covered? I keep my Service Book at home, not in the car.

From the MB Service network computer?

From the MB Service network computer?

If I understand correctly, this will only apply to cars serviced by MB UK owned dealerships, but not to cars serviced by privately-owned franchised dealers, as these don't get logged on MB UK's computers?

Correct, it's a benefit of using mb to service your car, I always knew that and I'm sure the B my SL has just had entitles it to mobilo to the next service.

If this is wrong I will update later

Sorry misread above, it's any UK main dealer

I thought if they are franchised they would still have access to the MB network? I don't know but would seem silly if they were not.

That's quite interesting because it means you ca take the car out of the dealer network for three years ten still qualify for Mobilo by having it serviced in the network again.

Next question... being difficult again... what if you have exceeded your service date? With flexible serving schedule, MB central computer won't know for sure when your next service is due - so presumably they will still send-out a recovery vehicle?

Service dates switch to days if the mileage is too low for one within two years.

I think you're misreading this. New cars (registered between 1 Jan 2004 and 31 March 2008) came with MobiloLife for the first two years. In order to maintain it from the third year onwards, you need to ensure all future services are undertaken at an official workshop (ie: an approved dealership or service centre, not necessarily MB-owned). I suppose you could have an intermediate service - ie: one that wasn't actually due, like an extra oil change - completed elsewhere, but all scheduled servicing, as dictated by ASSYST, needs to be completed at an approved location.

But UK cars come with a three year warranty and breakdown cover anyway, unlike the rest of Europe where it is two years.

Good point though.

If one misses a couple of 'required' services, i.e. done outside the MB network, doesn't Mobilo restart once the next service is done within the MB network?
