one of my mates had something like that on his cavalier a few years ago, he had to remove it, cut it in half and refit it. When it was on in one piece it got pulled off a few times in supermarket car parks.

Looks to me like a gargae door rubber trim. Have a google and you should find a few people have used them before.

I wouldn't bother, had similar set up as standard on an alfa 147. Ended up with one in the boot, one in the garage and none on the car. All down to speed humps / kerbs etc.
