Chrome trim refurbish

Hi

I noticed on the plastic chrome trim at the bottom of the convertable roof on my 2016 e class is slightly discoloured ,this is more visable in the wet.Looks like it's been damaged by a spill or possibly bird droppings.Any ideas how to remove the mark without damaging the trim further? Mercedes quoted a ridiculous amount to replace it.
