CKS Performance.....why so bad?

Remus is a quality product but I'm not totally sure they will just bolt up to your existing pipe work. The boxes in the link would need to be positioned correctly maybe modded also to fit snug in to the under carrige of your car. Also the piping on the entrance to the box would need to be slightly bigger than your current pipe work for them to sleeve correctly. They aren't cheap either must be said. Boxes alone don't give much more exhaust tone it has to be said. Just going by my experiences.

Or smaller in diameter for the sleeve to fit correctly.

^ As above. To state in the eBay ad that this would fit both an E240 and an E500 when they have different diameter piping is giving out the wrong info.
I don't thnk you'd get anything like the sound you are looking for either.

I would arrange a 2 day trip from Jersey to Portsmouth and get Olly at PCS Horndean to fabricate a x-pipe for you and fit it. A Premier Inn is nearby.
Failing that, contact exhaust specialists like Longlife and EMP and see if they will supply one off the shelf for you by mail order and get it fitted on the island.
There must be someone there who will undertake cutting out a resonator/cats and putting this in.

But in answer the original question, avoid that x-pipe from CKS unless you want poor quality.

Thanks

I think I'm going to plan a trip over - a lot of experience of this stuff in the UK and very little here (I did have some simple stuff done before, just removing resonator from my old E55 and was never impressed with the quality of the work)

Sorry AMGeed but you're incorrect. The piping for V6 and V8 up to "500" is the same. AMG is bigger. Those Remus boxes will work on his car just fine.

Do they seem expensive? although my comparison would also include lot of travel to get fabrication work - so may be a good compromise for the cost

I don't think you have many options. You either order a pair of boxes that bolt to your current system and hope you're going to be happy with the sound (there may not be a great deal of difference mainly because the rest of your exhaust is standard) or go whole hog and fabricate according to your needs. First option is obviously quicker and cheaper. Remus boxes are available cheaper on ebay.de.

PS: 211 Brabus rear boxes are actually made by Remus. I'm happy with them as they tone down my otherwise very 'unrestricted' car.

Your current boxes will still need cutting off. The ones you get will need to be correctly placed aligned and so on the hangers may need adjusting. It's not so certain it will be a straight forward swap. As I have found out. Saying this the sound you want to produce might not come with just adding boxes like I have also found out. I'm only going by what a have learnt with this process lol.
So if you did go with the boxes via delivered straight to you, your exhaust guy will still need to do some modding I'm sure.

Personally I think it's best you talk to some company like PCS just to get an idea on what they think is the way to go. What I like another person doesn't. It gets quite personal this exhaust modding lol.

Still very interested in which you opt for. Update all the same?
