Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has ever come across this issue. My CL has the automated boot and has hinges/arms each side. Just open the boot this morning and a small bolt/stud type fell out of one of the hinges/arm see below a few pictures of the bolt/stud on its own and when in place

I put the bolt/stud type thing back in but this just fell out again when closing. The way the boot hinge/arm operates it rotates around the stud end of the bolt. Appreciate any experience anyone has on this or any advice.

Cheers

Looks like a 2 piece rivet type fixing, there should be another (similar looking) part which I assume screws in from the other side of the bracket to secure.

No there was nothing on the other side...That's why I am a bit puzzled on how I will get it fixed

Mine did the same. It's snapped and you've lost the other bit.

I drilled and tapped mine so I could fit a bolt.

The silver bit you are holding onto should have a 'sister' at the other end….think two pins, one hollow into which the other is pressed into leaving the silver heads showing either side of the bracket and the shaft in the hole.

Drill and tap (as previous post) or try and find a replacement….I wouldn't just use a nut and bolt because, as you can see from the bit you are holding, there are two different diameters.

I didn't find my missing bit either. You can't get a replacement but its a new hinge I'm afraid.

Thanks everyone. Maybe time to start looking for a new hinge......any ideas on the cost of a new one?

Just got a used hinge in silver on ebay....... £57 including postage so not too bad provided it works!!

Actually thinking that is the wrong hinge now ! May have to contact the seller

Just ordered a new one from MB for £70.00 so not to bad......for some reason I thought it would be a lot more!

That's not bad! Just as an aside when you boot opened dos it lift the forward edge (broken hinge side) first before the raising the back?

Yes the broken hinge side opens first but as the spud in the hinge keeps falling out I just let it open slightly and then hit the key fob to stop it and then manually push it up
