2000 CL500
Hi there my name is John and i am new to this forum

I have recently bought a 2000 CL500 and I seem to be having a few electrical problems,

Firstly the battery keeps draining completely dead over night but not all the time, i thought it was the cold weather so i replaced the battery and its still doing the same thing

Also I have noticed on the light switch there is a small green light that stays on all of the time even with the lights set to 0 and the car turned off,

Also there is a problem with the central locking, every couple of days it stops working and i have to take the fuse out for 10 secs to reset it then it works fine for a few days,

Any ideas would be kindly appreciated :D I have had a lot of problems since I bought this car I have only owned it for a few weeks and already replaced the MAF sensor, i really love the car but just cant afford to keep throwing money at it, Thanks John

Had a simular problem with mine took my mechanic ages to find, turned out to be wireing still connected into the loom from a old after market alarm/immobiliser he took the neg term off and put his volt meter in line and it read something like .09 volts thats with everthing switched off then he took out a fuse at a time until it read .03 I think, and that was how he found the circuit the drain was on but someone on here said there was an easier way to do it.Maybe my previous post is still on here.

I seem to remember reading someone having a similar problem on the American forum. I think they changed the light switch unit and that cured it but don't hold me to that!

I had the same problem could never get to the bottom of it after visting 2 Auto electricians, in the end I sold the car! sorry can't be anymore help hopefully you will get to the bottom of it..

It is very likely to be the light switch at fault because it is clearly staying on.

Thanks Guys i will try changing the light switch first that could be draining the battery, anyone have any ideas about the central locking problem.
Cheers John

When my battery got a bit low from the drain it did give other problems which dissapeared when the battery was fully charged.
