Why what's wrong with it?

I can relate to some of the waffle as i own one of these myself. Epic machine these, really is.

I dont get excited all that much easily but credit where its due. if you find one without issues and can deal with potential problems and nip it in the bud early on during ownership someones going to absolutley fall in love with it.

Trust me.

I like it a lot, pity I could never afford to own one really.

They aren't all that bad tbh, like mentioned (unless you're really unlucky) it would be wise to do a one off major once over for peace of mind. That's what I did with mines and as soon as I did took it for a 1500mile round trip to Germany and back, didn't put a foot wrong.

You would expect majority of these cars with lower owner rate 'should' be cared for. Mines for example had grands of work spent including ABC attention so helps, although I've spent a fair bit in one hit so I can have the opportunity to just get in and go. Fuel wise well don't buy one of you're gna complain about MPG. Then again I don't think these really should be used as a daily unless you are doing mega miles to get anywhere in comfort.

Like that one.

Like the colour of the wood and the wheels in particular.

He is vague about the service history but big on the epic etc...
Epic is subjective but Good service history is a definite necessity= 'We did ask for a print out of the servicing he carried out, but in the nicest way possible, were told that he would have to go back through old invoices to find everything. They arent a computerised business, like I said, think of a garage from the 1950's and you might be close...However, im sure with some charming and time, he could be persuaded to part with all the receipts if you so need them. In the meantime he welcomes a call and discussion about all works carried out. The owner only sold up to buy a new W216, which he now looks after.'< TOSH imo service print out wont cut it for me or running around cap in hand asking previous owners for receipts to verify ? He is selling it & imo he should have obtained this beforehand or its null & void! imo Also he says its has 'a front air suspension strut' Air ?

I wouldn't / couldn't own that, but it is awesome

The fuel bills would be monuMENTAL but looks the mutts nuts

I got 29.5 mpg the other day on a 120 mile round trip through the Dordogne - up and down and windy (that's twisty!;)).

Sitting in traffic is horrendous, though ...... often around 10-12 mpg.

Thing is, on the open road at reasonable speeds, the engine is barely doing above 2000 ppm and the torque is incredible.

Just had new petrol pump and filter fitted and it does seem to have made a difference, both in smoothness and economy.

I get 13-14mpg driving mine in Jersey
More than double that when touring in France
Based on the car it is, I think that's pretty reasonable :-)
