CL65 v Ferrari 360 video

SportsCoupeRich said:
any idea as to distance you would beat it by on a standing mile?

impressive as always! :)

A considerable amount I would say. That race was about half a mile and I had passed it by at least 5 to 8 car lenghts.

Over 1.5 miles distance it trapped at 174mph and me 192mph

Traction is a problem on most mercs tbh

but you should of cained that 360 i would of thought

Um, he said he did. You can't really tell from the perspective in that video though.

As you can see traction is a bit of an issue in the '65, but once it gets rolling :D

From about 60mph I left the 360 standing

D'you reckon an F430 would give you a run for your money, then..? TBH, I'm surprised the 360 performed as well as it did........were you?

These vids you occasionally upload are just fanatastic, BTW. Good to see someone enjoying their car to the max

430 would give me a run for my money, but I recon once upto 110 ish the gap would be getting bigger.

The immense power of the CL just blows most things away at hight speeds once the weight is not that much of an issue.

In the video where I raced the Ruf Porsche you can see from 175+ the power comes into its own and other cars start to run out of steam. Granted not everyday (or every month!) you go to those speeds, but for a 5 meter, automatic 2.2ton car with double glazing I recon its OK ;) :D

Bring on the F430.............do you know anybody with one who'll give you a race? My old man had a 360 until a few months ago and while it sounded great and went pretty well, it was never the car (in terms of steering and outright handling, at least...) that his F355 had been. Strangely, it didn't feel particularly quick either, whereas his bog-stock (and slower!) Porsche 997 actually does. Odd...

When I first discovered that you were in your mid-20s, I have to say that I was a bit surprised that you'd chosen a CL over say.... an SL or something lithe and sexy like a 996/997 or maybe even a Gallardo or a 360/430. Now I've seen the videos and checked out the spec of your particular CL, I can see where you were coming from. You've got comfort, luxury and warp-drive performance in a single car, which is probably a near-impossible act to follow, even when you consider the Bentley (footballer's) coupe... :D

I'm picking up a 2004 Kawasaki ZX12R during the coming week, so I'm thinking I should come down to your next session with it......although I've been told that the post 2002 models are limited to 186MPH :( . Still, if you're up for a real challenge, I'm sure the video would make for some great viewing... :bannana:

Did you see the Continental GT versus the standard CL65 on Top Gear - hilarious just how much slower the GT was.

Didn't see it actually. But given their vaguely similar weights and the CL's power/torque advantage, I'll bet it was pretty conclusive :)

You want to get yourself on over to www.200mph.net

FWIW, I doubt you'll get much over 181mph on a standard ZX12R :D

Those Cowasaki's are slooow :p

It was great. From memory there were 3 cars (CL, GT and DB9) and they quickly asked some audience members which car would win. Many said that the GT should win, some said the DB9.

The CL65 was almost in another solar system by the time the GT crossed the line.

Ha ha....love it :D

Used to have the Hayabusa (mine was an unrestricted early model) and I loved it, so I'd planned to get another one when my KTM was nicked. However when I rode the Kwacker, it felt more agile and it was certainly more comfortable for me (I'm 6'3" and 17 stone... :o ), so I bought it. It's a '04 model with only 2300 miles on it and if it'll "only" top 181mph, then I doubt I'll have anything to worry about. Us bikers will still be at the end of the runway before the supercar drivers have got halfway down.... :bannana:

Gonna keep it standard, I reckon. Dunno about you, but I rarely get past 140-150 mph.........on racetracks, of course :)

LOL, would love to see a bike v CL65, I know i'd loose, but it would be a fun comparison, from say 50 to 120 :D Spike? :D:D

I just want to be in a drag-race video............

50-120mph is despatched in the blink of an eye on a fast bike. A rolling 120MPH start would actually probably even things out, although the potential for runningout of road could be worth considering......
