Mmmmm! I think the word " cloned"comes to mind. Not knocking the new VW design mind but " original"is not the first thing that comes to mind when you see it?

That CC was a result of the CLS remember!

Agreed the CLS was the first of its kind- albeit a chopshop W211 :p - it was unique in its day and still a huge head turner. [ more than the latest design perhaps?] :thumb: I was however really struck by the commonality of shape/size and drive train layout [ FWD +transverse engine+ preselect twin clutch box] of the new CLA and Passat CC or " VW CC"as they now like to call it. So VW copies the original MB CLS with the CC and MB copies the VW CC with the CLA? My guess is that the new CLA will drive a lot more like a CC than the old conventional fore and aft engined RWD 4 door GT that is the magnificent CLS :dk:

I know that we don't see the full picture with all that cladding etc., but those wheels still look awfully tiny compared to the chassis.

A saggy ass that ASDA shoppers would be proud of.

Woah, it actually looks good for a compact saloon! 'A-Class saloon'

I like what I know and I know what I like, if it isn't W124 shape it isn't a Merc....I'm out!!!

Fresh, new, different.

Love it!!

Bumping again as its such a good looking car IMO :)

Looks very good, wing mirrors look more like they came off a F1 car than a road car design. The nav screen looks more like a tablet that has been docked as oppsosed to a pop up or integrated screen.

Can't see them selling that around 19-20k, but if its true then it should be a huge success.

I like this - except for those gaping holes either side of the front bumper, they are truly huge!

Presumably this is reserved for one of the sporting models. I'd expect the standard versions to have a more stylish design.

Also not sure about the rear bumper design - reminds me of a woman who's tucked her skirt into her knickers...

That'll be the AMG body kit :)

I thought that at first, but then noticed that it didn't have those awkwardly styled side skirts that AMG models tend to have. Perhaps they've finally seen the light and realised that they just looked as though someone had dented them.

Thats not the AMG version, it only has 1 exhaust (maybe another one on the other side aswell)

Well on the regular A Class those holes aren't as tall so it fit's the lines better IMO, not sure why they are taking a different route with the coupe.

It also appears that they are using a similar rear bumper as the hatch - which is a bit daft as the design really doesn't suit the coupe either IMO.

The rest of it's really nice though, I just hope they fix those bumpers :D

Does look BMWesque side-on, and less 4dr coupe-like than CC (not long enough body length behind rear seat to accomodate a shallower slope without compromising headroom or making it look like a hatchback?)

There's so much cut away at the front that it's in danger of looking like the entire bottom panel has fallen off. Perhaps less prominent on a black vehicle.
