Hi, I had to set up a new account as my old email address is not working apology for looking like a newbe :-)

just wondered if anyone can help with my CLK 500 problem the AA seem to be useless. The battery has gone flat after a holiday and the key is not working in the door  although the door handle mechanism was replaced a few months ago and it was worked.

The boot lock is turning but not opening the boot, it turns one way to lock and half turn the other.

The AA have said it is impossible to effect entry but I don't believe it's impossible. They want to drill the locks or pop the windows:doh:

Just tried mine, but it's a C Class not a CLK and I don't have a flat battery.
Took me several attempts to unlock the boot with the metal key, having never had cause to do so before, mine would only turn one way. Turn and hold the key in that position and pull the release handle/catch while doing so, mine was quite stiff.

Good luck.

The bootlock should only go halfway one side IIRC, then you push in firmly. Spray some WD-40 into the lock (tiny bit) and leave it 10 mins.

I had to do this recently, climbing through the boot is interesting!

I tried the boot lock again but no joy :-(

Maybe a silly question but, as you say the door handle mechanism was replaced a few months ago, did that include a new lock with a new key? If so, are you using the correct key?

I presume from KillerHERTZ's comment about pushing it firmly in that the boot lock is a different set up to the C Class which has a release handle that you pull back while holding the key in the quarter turn position?

MB replaced the handle as the buttons had stopped working. the key did work when there but now wont unlock the door. I only have one merc and 1 key. in the boot lock the key turns left and right but the boot wont open :wallbash:

Im going to try WD but not sure if I should spray it in the lock, or somehow into the door / boot cavity.

I would say into the lock and also try and get some inbetween the lock barrel and it's surround. Then keep working it back and forth. Maybe hold the key with a pair of plyers to save the thumb and fingers getting sore, if it's just a metal blade, but don't exert too much pressure. Use a gentle turn and push motion.

So I've used a big can of WD in the barrel and into the door cavity behind the rubber seals on the door and boot.

The boot.
The key now moves to the right to lock and to the left it springs back but Hoyt opening it almost like the lock is not connected to the locking mechanism

Drivers door.
The key moves left to lock but only moves to the right by a few mm not pushing the button up on the door.

Is there a circuit I can energise to get some power back into the battery. Or open the bonnet without getting into the car?

I had a similar problem with my CLS after 2 months away. First few spays with WD40 did nothing, but perseverance paid off and after about 30 minutes and several more sprays the blade key activated the boot lock and it opened :)

You are pushing the boot lock in with the key turned aren't you? Or at least that's how I interpreted the instructions in the link.

No I wasn't

Iv now checked and the lock does not push in just turns.

So the easy way to do this is to take a coat hanger and tie some twine to it. Then feed a normal table knife between the window and the door seal. now go play hook the door handle.

after several hours I managed to get in and pop the bonnet battery on charge woooooo
