Hi, everyone. Need advice re opening a w209 boot. The catch does not open the boot (moves loosely) and I cannot get in any other way, either the key or the door switch. Is there any other way I can get in the boot to try and repair this? Thanks again.

Does it have folding seats?

No but I think the release handles are in the Boot?

Is there a small hatch between the seats that opens? If so could you reach through?

When you press the release button can you hear any movement in the lock?

Is the key turning in the lock.?

I suppose the question I am asking is although the boot latch does not do anything (it feels loose as though it has come adrift from whatever inside the latch) Should I be able to open the boots from the Door switch or key instead of.

They are common for the moving lever part you pull sticking it the upwards position. If it doesn’t come all the way down the emergency key operation won’t engage. Make sure it’s fully down before you turn the key and then operate the lever again.

I remember my CLK, the key to the boot never worked because it was full of dirt, needed to spray liberally with WD40 and keep trying the key until it eventually opened.
