HI All
I have just bought a CLK55 AMG 2004,81000miles, it seem a bit of a hybrid as it has updated brakes (6 pot front) and facelift command and center consul but the front lower fog lights have no chrome surround (probably had front damage and fitted old part). Goes well and drove it home 650miles with no issue.

However the front bake discs are worn and I realise this has been an issue of concern for many and I have trawled the threads for help but most seem to be a few years old.

Is it still the case that only AMG discs will do, real cost implication and main dealer part only , has anyone located or found other options for replacement discs , as i understand it they are 345mm dia and 30mm thick drilled and vented. Mintex quote replacements at £240 pair which seems reasonable but will they fit??, any help appreciated,

john

2004,81000miles, that's a lot of miles!

:D:D

Stick with OEM parts, good warranty and you know they will compliment the rest of the braking system

When I had mine changed all round Acid at Msl told me not to muck about and fit merc parts.

That was good enough for me.

Thanks for the fast responses, happy to spen a few hundred £ to get quality but dont like spending £800 on replacement AMG parts, seems a bit of a rip off
Ill keep looking

thanks

John

ive had them fitted to my car and I must say they are not good, brakes squeak and it's very embarrassing lol. Get the merc items

That's fair enough. I fitted OEM as well but thought I could save the OP some £££:D

I may be wrong here but are your discs not the "floating" type in which case I think only Mercedes do them?

Your car is a facelift type with oval front fogs. the round fogs and different rear light cluster came in about a year later.

HI Thanks for the help, phoned Mercedes dealer today, the AMG discs are £512 each and Pads are £134!!!
However he did say he can provide alternative discs(non AMG) Ferodo i think, for £160/ Disc and pads for £40, so you can guess what ii think i will do!

Got mine fitted today with few Other parts. After reading reviews there is nothing like genuine Merc parts.
