Which one is the more tuneable engine...im looking to buy one of these cars and remap the ecu...which one will come out on top?? Thanks!

The 63 is much more powerful anyway. The CLK55 is n/a as is the CLK63 so not a huge powergain to be had.

You might want to look at the E55's as these are supercharged and are therefore much more moddable.

Hello

What car do you currently own...?

Not sure eithers performance on a normal UK road can really be used.. With more and more cameras on good driving roads the chance to use cars like this properly is moving to the track.

CLK63 is much more powerful out of the box, and I'd say more tunable too. Different league price wise though.

I would say neither of them are really tuneable.
You will be limited to 25 -40 bhp with a remap and de-limit. Anything above this you will be spending some serious money.
Best to get a forced induction engine if you want to go down the tuning route.

Also depends on your budget. The CLK55 and 349 BHP and CLK63 474bhp....they also differ in price by about 20k.

Expensive business, but fairly tunable for an already high-revving N/A:

CLK63 - M156 V8 AMG

Increase in performance to 405 kW (551 HP) at 6800 rpm, 650 Nm at 5100 rpm
modification:
Modified engine management with readapt ignition map and injection map,
incl.Vmax delimiter.
54001560540

Increase in performance to 427 kW (581 HP) at 6700 rpm, 673 Nm at 5200 rpm
modification:
Modified engine management with readapt ignition map and injection map, incl.Vmax delimiter, exhaust manifolds s/s and exhaust downpipes.

They are hellishly expensive.

Remap on a W203 C32 AMG: 2000 Euros plus tax

Remap on an W163 ML270 CDi: 1200 Euros plus tax

The look on my face when I read the email containing this information: PRICELESS

There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's MasterCard.

NOW We're TALKING SON!! Cheers for that!! And thanks to everyone for their input. I thought the CLK55 was a 5.4/5.5 Supercharged engine. I currently own a Bavarian Motor Works car ;) tuned to 420hp and 430lbs/ft

Theres also a few other companies like MKB called Vath and Kleeman.
Prices are similar.......

DMS will take a 63 in either a C or CLK to 519bhp by remap for £1400.

You can put it on there rolling road before and after to see the results.

It increases torque and removes the limiter, (beyond the 174 and 186 set by AMG for upgraded and black series too).

you might get 190mph out if it on a long enough road with 519p.

the 63 engine is very tuneable. There are people all over the world now who buy the c63 and tune it to be an m5/m6 killer, very effecient use of money :).

594bhp has already been shown (on youtube), for the 63 engine just from remapping and removing restrictors and delimiting it.

Please let us know how it all goes on Thursday!
Be interesting to see some before and after graphs and figures.

Absolutely.

Man, gotta say I'm abit nervous....

They told me that they had a C63 in there that was putting out more than it was supposed to be as standard! Awesome!

BUT.... I have also heard of cars that that DON'T put out as much as they should be.

I just hope that Mr Dominik Baer did a good job when he built my engine!!

But having said this, it will be nice to actually see the figures and actually KNOW when the beast is producing.

It's always nice to "guess" or "assume" what your car is putting out but I Need to know what rivals my car is capable of bashing!! hahahah

Getting another oil change done on tuesday so she's good fresh blood
