CLS 320 CDI
I currently have a 320 CDI CLS but have looked at an E Class 350 what's is the difference in engine performance, I can see they are both 3.00 engines so what If anything will the 350 give me. My main use is long motorway journeys hardly any about town use.

Dependent on the year, as there a number of different 320/350.

My guess is that the 350 would be the same engine but with a twin turbo instead of the single, so the difference is in power...

Mercedes don't make a twin turbo V6 diesel.

Early (2005-2009) 320 V6 CDi is 224bhp, early (around 2009-2011) 350 V6 CDi 231bhp, later (around 2011) 350 V6 CDi 265bhp.

My bad, what is the exact difference of the engine? where does the power gain come from? the engines look identical.

probably a increase is boost and rail pressure

I would of though that too, which would be a result of a differently mapped ECU, correct?

Then why do they produce higher remap figures than the equivalent 320cdi V6

as I understand it the engines are the same, but the 350 is so called because it has the Brabus D6 tuning box fitted, which increases the bhp to 274 from 224.

My 320 cd1 cls has just had the D6 box fitted, and I am pleased with it, the car has an increased urgency about the throttle response, and it looks as though the fuel consumption is at least as good as before, maybe a little better, but only 2 weeks since I had it fitted

The E350 CDi has a later and more powerful tune - later Bluetec's a different tune again.

350 CDi's don't have a D6 box fitted.

Older Grand Edition CLS's had one fitted.

So... could a later/Bluetec 350 CDi tune be copied to the 320 CDi? Would be very interesting :D
