Hi guys

New joiner here so please bear with me ....My beloved 1998 E240 Avantgarde is finally coming to the end of its cycle so was considering buying a used CLS 350 .....Does anyone have any tips as to what to look out for when buying ? I have seen good examples for 16-18k on reputed online advertisers.

Thanks in Advance:crazy:

Hello and welcome to you. I know nothing about that model, However, there will be plenty on here who will.

A bit tight for rear passengers if you have got the front seats any where near their full backwards travel.

Thirsty around town when cold (car + outside temp) with 23 mpg average , on the motorway 43 - 44mpg which aint too bad for a big heavy car.

Servicing and consumables are quite expensive depending on who is doing it and mileage.

Huge boot , very comfy , looks stunning in the right colour and with the right wheels.

Loads of options available for the original purchaser so keep your eye out for a "loaded" one.

Quick car despite its weight ,even more so if you get the Grand Edition.

With your budget you will be looking for a "facelifted" model - 09 / 10 ?

Brilliant car have had both the W218 and the old W219, loved the style of the W219 only issue was crappy headlights, so if possible go for a 350 or Grand Edition with the 275bhp engine and xenons.

Hey Riverside Red, you say you had the w219 and were familiar with the headlights - do you remember if there was a way to adjust Right Hand Drive and Left Hand Drive headlight settings on the w219 without changing the whole unit (I.e - via computer inside or a switch on the light)?

Thanks

You may need a ouija board for an answer there old pal. You’ve asked a question on a post that’s 6 years old ……
