CLS 500 looks nice but no MOT

"The car has recently failed it's MOT. This was only because it needs 2 rear tyres. These have been priced at £190 each. The new owner can take as is or - for an additional £450 - I will supply the car with new rear tyres and 12 months MOT."

Sounds like £450 worth of bargain although I'd be very tempted to run it through a council MOT station BEFORE parting with any cash to ensure that the MOT pass was true.

Something odd going on there.. why would the owner not spring for 2 new tyres? 12 months MOT always gives a new buyer confidence and 2 tyres are a small proportion of the car's worth, especially if the seller wants to get top dollar for it (and don't we all, when selling a car?). You could even put "budgets" on to get it through the test.

Fishy..

Cheers,

Gaz

some people just cannot be bothered. However you could go along book it in for an MOT, provide tyres and if it passes buy it? 30 mins or so wait?

Or take the owner up on his offer of supplying the car with MOT for £450 more.

Looks an honest enough advert, I've sold cars before with hardly MOT/tax for no other reasons than I've had my use out of it and can't be ****d.

Maybe if it's a 500 quid beater, but a CLS? :dk:

I agree with you, but it's all relative Gaz, I just sold my S211 with short tax and test, needing front tyres and a service for not a great deal less than I would for sorting it all out. The buyer of my car actively sought a car that needed bits sorting as long as it was priced accordingly (which mine was).

When the time comes to sell the RR Sport, it'll be serviced with 12 month test and tax though...
