Hello. I have searched the forum for this question and there are various potential answers to electric automatic boot opening and closing issues (chafed wires, dead modules, etc). But none have the symptoms of mine, which is the boot is very stiff to open and to close. It's like the boot hinge is connected to something with a lot of friction. And it's jerky. I imagine I'm probably forcing the electric motor gearing? The switch on the driver's door to open the boot also doesn't work. The fuse seems okay. To cut a long story short I wondered if anyone can link to some instructions on how to remove the boot interior to get to the electric boot closer so I can disconnect it and have an ordinary boot?? Many thanks 👍

Any of these of use?

Very kind of you, thank you. So one of those documents says I am effectively overcoming the drive unit resistance. I don't suppose you have instructions on how to dismantle the boot interior in order to get to the drive unit? Cheers👍

Does the boot struggle to open too when the car is running? I had similar issue with mine when the battery was low it would barely move and sometimes would not work at all until the battery had some charge on it.

Also is this guide of any use and the motor should be on the left hand side. But to get the whole pump motor assembly out you need to also remove the parcel shelf as there are 1 or 2 nuts there that need to be removed.

Great stuff thanks 👍. The is the next job. The electric boot lid does not work at all, it is just very stiff. But I have never felt it a chore to close a boot lid so i just want it disconnected from the motor 😉

So are the electrics dead on the boot?

The boot lid will be stiff to open and close because it is connected by some gearing system.

I followed the advice to check the loom in the boot hinge and found 5 broken wires. Soldered back together and it works fine now 👍 I was amazed tbh 😊
Only remaining issue is tho latches fine it doesn't lock for some reason. That reason might be connected with the fact that the boot key lock has been drilled at some time in the distant past?
