Code reader

Is it worth me buying a code reader ? I'd be keen on mowing what the faults are on my car. Although I wouldn't fix them myself unless I only had to press a reset button on the reader..And everything was fixed

Can anyone recommend a decent code reader, and how much do they cost ?

Turned up yesterday in a very nice holdall type thing... talked to my CL with no probs, luckily there were no faults present or stored... will give you lots of data including a "snatch" feature for intermittant faults, also stores all known fault codes and gives you the actual problem rather than just the number... seems pretty well made and works just great...

That one works for me:

A bit more expensive but covers also MB-specific items such as Airbags/SRS, ABS/ESp, etc (Standard ODBII only covers engine and transmission).

Does not cover newer cars though - only up to 2006/2008eesh.

Hi, I have just bought a CLK 320 and diagnostic kit but cannot find the plug to fit the kit into! I have looked behind the ashtray but cannot see anything. Can you help please?

Hi,
If your ClK is a 208, then your diagnostic socket is next to the ECU in the plastic box just in front of the windscreen on the passenger side, you will see a round plastic cap on top of this box unscew it and you socket is under there.

What year is your C180? I'm told that if it's a W202 (pre-2001) then nothing will work... but I may be wrong...

The OBD socket is under the dash next to the bonnet release, at least mine is
