Does anyone know what are the differences (if any) from a comand model 210 820 5489 and a 210 820 5689 other than the year it was made from.

The correct model to suit my E220 CDI (W210, 2002) would be the later model (with CAN) but I have seen a model 210 8205489 for sale and wonder whether this is also compatible and will work with the instrument panel.

The difference is the software, but that can be updated.

Other than that both units will work just fine in your car.
