Vito 115Cdi Auto W639
Hi everyone, I have just acquired a 2010 Vito Compact W639 115CDi Auto (ex police) with a Comand NTG2 which works fine apart from the telephone which had a cradle when launched. Does anyone know how bluetooth can be added please.

Hello, I have succumbed and installed a Comand NTG 2.5 and all is well (apart from the radio adapter I have had to purchase) apart from the fact that I can hear a call but they can’t hear me ie the mike isn’t working, any ideas? Thank you

Did you install the mic? Or if you had phone before did you install the lead from Comand to existing mic ?

Thank you but things have got worse after three starts the unit locked with the message “Anti-theft protection activated. Please switch the ignition on and restart the system” looks like a visit to a main dealer and having spoken to them they are sceptical about fixing it. HELP!!!

Killbill - zero point in visiting a main dealer, they will get no-where quickly. Do you have the anti-theft pin - please ask whoever supplied it. Getting anti-theft pin if you;re not the original owner is particularly hard, unit needs checking against Mercedes stolen database etc etc. Email sales@comand.co.uk and we'll quote for what needs doing.

Cheers
Richard

Thanks Richard. The previous owner said he never needed it or had it, when the unit was powered down it started again without a pin he said. Is this a security pin like you used to get in older car stereo systems? Also it’s not asking for a pin just to turn on the

ignition and reset?

Pin is entered using diagnostic tool. It’s a paperweight without the PIN, but speak to Comand.co.uk

The COMAND unit is coded to the car's VIN.

A PIN is only needed if moving the COMAND unit from the original car to a different car (with will obviously have a different VIN).

If you are not in position to reconnect the COMAND unit in the original car, then at this stage pretty much the only people that can help you are www.comandonline.co.uk (as above: sales@comand.co.uk)

Thanks again. Comand Online have quoted £300 to sort which is way too much even with the paperweight point you made. Shouldn’t MB have access to pins for this very reason?

We quoted you to obtain the pin and then code it all to your car properly. It’s two parts and takes us an amount of effort and time to do the work. You paid £200 for the Comand which is a great price. So adding it all up you would be looking at £500 all in to have what was a £2,000 option when new.

Thanks Mark that confirms my fears. There do seem to be NTG 2.5’s out there that are unlocked so I assume there is a way to acquire one that is plug and play?
Regards
Ian

Thanks Alfie, I wasn’t decrying what you do it’s that I have have a budget and I should have bought an unlocked unit.

Pre model year 2010 NTG 2.5 units are not theft protected. I would send yours back, telling the seller it’s useless without the code.

The thing to remember about buying a pre model year 2010 unit, is that it is >10 years old, and hard disks fail, CD players lasers fail, and actually we see other failures (which we think are internal power supplies on NTG2.5, and flash memory on early NTG4.5), so you really need to find as newer one as possibly with an anti-theft code.

Cheers

Richard

Thanks to all. I have managed to buy one that I’m assured will work. What I don’t understand is the price tags on some of them £500 and upwards?

Can someone explain, I have paired my phone with the NTG 2.5 so why would I need a Bluetooth cable / dongle (yellow socket on the rear) and what extra does it do if anything?
