I understand the new E class is being released here this June? Does anyone know if the satnav function will have seven character British postcode capability.

At the moment I consider the five character postcode facility to be inadequate.

I believe it will yes.

The current Model 09 cars with comand, including the E class, have full seven digit postcode support.

Unlikely. The MY2009 cars have a different Comand unit altogether so i doubt any dealer would do a swap/upgrade for free.

The new E-class (W212) would have a memory card slot but they actually went back to a PCMCIA slot which is an improvement over the NTG2.5 in a W211 which actually had an SD-card slot. Actually since the W204 too has a PCMCIA slot, I believe Alfie above did not mean "SD card slot specifically" but "a memory card interface" in generic terms(?). The PCMCIA slot then of course allows SD-cards with an adapter (also SD-HC cards).

We worked on a C63 the other day that had a 32GB SD card in a PCMCIA adapter in his Comand.

I'm going to have a look at some e280cdi sports today/tomorrow with a family member.

They are plated as 08 and 58.

What should we expect with the COMAND installed to 08 and 58 plated W211's?

If you can, try and get one which is MY09. You can tell the difference by looking at the Comand/audio20 system. If its MY09 it will have Red and green phone buttons on it. There are some MY09 - 08 and 58 plated W211's around.

You can probably pick up a cracking deal on a pre registered car.

The MY09 cars with comand have full 7 digit postcode support and a memory card slot too!
