IIRC you're chasing a rust repair claim right? Might help if you hire a PI and get some dirt on someone senior there! We could all do with some rust repairs every now and then I'm sure! ;)

If you have a real problem try copying in this guy who was (maybe still is) Chairman of Daimler Chrysler UK Limited

http://www.daimlerchrysler.com/dccom/0,,0-5-7158-1-56936-1-0-0-0-0-0-104-7155-0-0-0-0-0-0-0,00.html

There does appear to be a particular problem with the UK dealership network and it is getting worse. So you may want to copy in this bloke as well:

http://www.daimlerchrysler.com/dccom/0,,0-5-7158-1-56929-1-0-0-0-0-0-104-7155-0-0-0-0-0-0-0,00.html

Some may think this is aiming too high up the food chain but I have always worked on the basis of dealing with or at least engaging the organ grinder, not relying the monkey.

They will not of course be able to directly deal with your problem but bringing them into the loop may encourage others to do so promptly.

Why not just give up on the car and demand a refund?

wow - this is absurd ! My father just took his '97 E230 in for a service and they spotted that the front cross member and some of the suspension has rust developing - they are replacing it all FOC for him under warranty and have booked him a loan car etc. The dealer (Jacksons of Poole) could not have been more helpful. Perhpas its just the dealer you are using ??

Two months is rediculous. Have you kept a file on the work?

Telephone calls and e-mails are okay for 'friendly' banter, but this is no longer friendly.

Is the vehicle being repaired by the dealer or has he authorised the repair to an agent?

I only ask because the agent might be dragging their feet.

As has already been suggested, once you correspond with Milton Keynes, they not only get in touch with you, but they also contact the dealer and in my case the dealer was given 48hrs. to contact me. From then on both parties kept in touch until the situation was resolved to my satisfaction.

Don't delay, write straight way! ;) (I'm a peot)

Good luck,
John
