Hi for the last two days my E220 estate has shown a coolant warning light on ignition only. I took a photograph of the coolant status on the dashboard and will try to post it below. The level in the tank was about 1 inch below the junction of the white and black plastic, before I topped up.

I topped up with 500 mL of holts coolant/antifreeze. The dashboard picture remains the same. I don’t see any coolant leaks around the tank. Any thoughts? The warning light has now gone out. Any reason to worry. Service B3 is due in 90 days. Should I bring it forward?

Just to update I checked the level (after watching a few YouTube videos) and even though I added about 500 ml of pink antifreeze it is still below the T shaped max marker inside the tank. I didn’t put anymore in as the alert has gone off. Perhaps I should go to the garage on Monday ? It’s not overheating on short journeys.

Most common leak areas on this om651 are fuel filter housing and water pump. A small leak will evaporate straight off with the heat of the engine. Tell tale signs are areas of white or whatever colour the coolant is dried up crusty deposits - might be tiny if there has been minimal loss. If the leak is not obvious then the best way to find the leak is to get the system pressure tested. It is obviously better to get it sorted sooner rather than later but if it is only losing a small amount it is not going to cause it to overheat; especially at this time of the year.

Just check the tank for the levels.

The pic in the first post is for coolant temperature rather than level. Check again once up to temp and this would’ve changed.

For the loss amount you’re talking about, over a fairly long time, I wouldn’t worry.
