for some time now I have had no heat from the heater assuming it was blocked I tought an investigation would be in order, I found the fan motor to be a bit dodgy so replaced, but knew that this had nothing to do with heat comming in to the heater martix, I think we all know of this nightmare job to replace the matrix so thought i would flush it out, reversed flush, rad lushers, acitic acid ,re assembled still the same , I am know thinking that instead of a matrix I had a block of sludge, so left it , I then had this idea (good or bad ) to use a wall paper steamer to flush the matrix and to my suprise I had so much heat comming from my heater I could not keep my hand there, this got me thinking , this was so hot that should the windscreen have had a shower of snow on ice there would be a risk of the screen cracking, so is the water restricted somwhere, as I am now of the opinion that there may not be enough water flow, I have checked all visible pipe work hose'es etc all ok, http://www.echo-news.co.uk/li/traffic.detail.5721655/?ref=ltpfitted new water pump & stat 5 months back. one thing I have noticed that the cooling on the car seems to be ultra efficient temp always just below mid point unless car is idel any advice welcome

Does your car have the electric water pump on the inner wing/chassis leg?
These sieze/become intermittent.

No! the pipe work seems to to come from water pump driven by the serpent belt as you look at the car head on flow to the right return to the left, the flow comes out of the engine block at the rear and returns back into a pipe branch attaching to water pump.

Thermostat stuck open causing over cooling?

The heaters do get very hot when working correctly. To the point where you have to turn the heat dials down, That is perfectly normal. Are you saying you now cant lower the temp via the dials and it is now stuck on full heat all the time?

The controls do have a vacumm valve that can get stuck one way or the other or indeed split. It is next to the brake servo on the drivers side.

No! I only have heat under my test conditions using a wallpaper steamer through the matrix, under normal running conditions no heat

the control valve is functioning, only have heat under my test conditions of a wallpaper steamer through the matrix, under normal conditions no heat, dials all working and airflow works as it should, stat seems to be working ok, rad not hot the all of a sudden gets hot indicating stat opening. it is almost like no water flow
