Correct Battery

Turns out some mercs had a higher than normal output alternator fitted , and would boil normal batteries. One reason I always say if it's got AGM fit AGM .
According to CTEK, the charging profile is different for AGM (14.7v) and a traditional lead acid battery (14.4v).

So if your car expected to charge an AGM and the battery had been replaced with a traditional lead acid battery then the voltage would be too high when charging.

I recall that on some modes at least, it is possible to change the battery type using STAR, but if it’s in the cabin then it still might not be a good idea to switch to traditional lead acid.

Just to close this out i fitted the 110 i linked to earlier from Tayna, no issues to speak of.
The original hold down clamp assembly wasnt present so i made up a bracket to hold it in, must be that the previous car dealer threw any old battery in and just disposed of the clamp in the process.

THAT. AGM batteries have deeper charge and discharge cycles. So sone cars will only take AGM batteries as the alternator is designed for such batteries.
People running round with thier hair in fire thinking AGM is the bees knees. It is specific.
