Correct oil.....advice please!

Hi all

I have just purchased 10 litres of Mobil 1 Super syn 0W40 "Turbo Diesel" for my 52 E270CDI....Is this the right stuff? Any advice much appreciated.

You can use pretty well anything. Have a look in the back of the service book.

There only a particular issue with engines with a diesel particulate filter in the exhaust as these need low ash oil. But DPF's didn't start being used until much later.

It all depends on whether you have a diesel particulate filter on your car.

If not then your oil easily meets MB 229.3 or 229.5 spec so its fine.

If your car has a DPF then you need to use a low ash oil which meets MB 229.31 or 229.51 which your oil does not.

Id say the oil you have bought is probably slight over kill, you could have done with a 5/30 or 5/40 fully synthetic.
