Corroded alloy wheel weights.

2015 E Class coupe 220 diesel bluetec, 2009 Mitsubishi Colt 1.3
I like to keep the inside of my wheels as clean as the outside on my 2015 E Class Coupe but in resent years I have noticed the wheel weights which are now used stuck on to the wheels when balanced corrode and start to look unsightly after a year after fitting.
Thinking of having all the wheels re-balanced and provide my own non corroding weights if they exist to overcome this.
Anyone else affected by this and are non rusting wheel balance weights available?

I painted and clearcoated mine, black inners so i went with black weights, cadged them from the tyre place but available from ebay
 
Unfortunately wheel weights now tend to be steel instead of lead. I suspect the wheel cleaners we use make the situation worse.
 
Mine are changed twice yearly with winter/summer tyre change.
Biggest problem is sticky residue
 
white spirit for the sticky stuff....but dont get it on the brakes
 
Won’t that cause sacrificial corrosion?
Don't think so because the zinc is separated from the wheel by the double-sided adhesive strip.

I only hand wash my wheels with car shampoo an find the weights start to corrode after 6 - 9 months.

Aluminium and lead are both members of the post-transition metals in the periodic table of elements.
Iron and zinc are close together as members of the transition metals.
I would expect steel weights and zinc weights both to react similarly in the promotion of sacrificial corrosion.
But - as said above - If the two metals are isolated from the aluminium alloy by tape, that may help.
There never was any need for tape with lead weights ... and I don't remember them ever causing corrosion on my alloy wheels.
