Hi All, what is the cost change air struct on mercedes c350e? The cost of struct and labour given by an Indy is around £930

£1,152.60 for mine last January at MB dealer. Strut was on back order so car off the road for 10 weeks. Strut spat out of oil that spread making a pool on my garage floor over 2 ft across. Air part of strut still ok. Replacement is a relatively quick job. I needed the 360camera recalibrated as part of the repair. This strut lasted 8 months longer than the drivers side which failed in the same way. Car out of warranty and over 50k so no contribution from MB. Despite the cost of two struts it still worked out less expensive than paying for a MB warrenty over the same. Looking at what MB the warranty covers it seems likely that shocks are a consumable so may not have covered the repair, would be interesting if anyone with a car 3+ years and a warranty has had any contribution.

Hm. Air struct is expensive.

My car has done less than 40k miles and is 5 years old.

Do you think mercedes will fix it if its under warranty?

It’s always worth asking. But at the 50k mark and 5 years for my first strut replacement the answer was no.

When I had my second strut replaced I asked the parts department if this was a common fault. I was told that only 7 units ordered in 2021 in the UK. Mercedes airmatic compressors are a different case the parts department person said they always keep a number in stock.

Remember shy bains get nowt so ask.

Unfortunately air suspension struts are much more expensive than regular dampers when they need replacing.

Even more unfortunately aftermarket struts generally have poor reputation. I would stick with Mercedes parts.

As long as the strut itself is competitively priced (they vary by model) then the labour you mentioned seems reasonable.

From memory my main dealer charged twice that labour charge to replace two rear air struts on my car almost 12 months ago.

If the car is under MB warranty (Extended, or Approved Used) then it's definitely worth asking.
