Car
mercedes w204
i have a mercedes w204 c200 diesel manual with 105k on the clock with full dealer service history, always fueled from shell.

the other day i was driving and i got esp unavailable and engine management light come on, car still drove without any loss of power, i took it down to a friends garage who has a diagnostic machine, and the error code read 22E7, check system high pressure control, i asked him not to delete the code, i drove home with the light still on, i called out the mercedes breakdown, but by the time the guy come out the light had gone off, so he could not see what was wrong with the car.

has anyone heard of this error code before?

this is the second time i have had this code come up and gone off in the last 6 months

any help/advice would be appriciated.

regards

I don't think the two are related.

I think that the 22E7 code was either stored or present from before, and it is only a coincidence that it came to light when you had the car checked for the ESP issue.

The EPS/ABS issue can be caused by many factors, most commonly low battery voltage, but also failed wheel sensor or failed steering angle sensor.

The 22E7 code seems to be related to the common rail high pressure fuel injection system.

In either case, the general procedure for dealing with faults is erasing the existing fault codes and then see if it was a one-off, or if it comes back (immediatly or after a while).

should i be worried?

Worried? No.

If the fault(s) come back, they will need attention. If they don't, you are fine.

On the W168, the ESP/ABS light can sometimes be caused by the brake switch and is often a recommended DIY replacement at a cost of £12 to eliminate this being the cause.

thanks alot guys, will be back in touch if i get the same error codes :)
