Well folks i had decided to get something a little more practical than my c280 facelift, something that has folding rear seats and went to a couple of dealers who offered me amazing deals as my car is in a beautiful rust free condition with fsh but i just couldn't bare to let her go. Only had her a few months but have become completely attached to her so shall be getting a roof rack to put my pairs of steps on and other long items on. What the hell was i thinking of selling her ? So now decided to give her a gearbox and torque converter oil change and yet another polish if weather holds out. Ahhhh that's better:D

Nice one Tony..
Its a very good idea to give the gearbox a service.
Each time I have done it, I can definitely tell a difference.
Your car will thank you for it.

P.S I used to have a ZZR1100.. Dark green.
Gorgeous bike.. Its what I would call a gentle Giant.. A flexible and forgiving motor that's happy to pootle around but then when you twist the grip !!!!!!!!!

I felt like treating her after almost letting her go. Shame i never feel the same about Women Ha Ha. Yes the ZZR is a beautiful bike and for 21 years old she handles and goes like stink. Shame the weather doesn't let me get out on her that often. 28,000 Miles in 21 years, that's quite a low average and i love riding her and keeping her clean:D:D:D

Be prepared to travel for a decent Indy who will actually do the proper Torque converter flush.. They don't all do it..
I can give an address of one that definitely does if you want it??
Your best bet is to phone and actually ask.. If they don't seem to know what your on about then they don't do it..
Also the better indys will be quite OK about you watching...

The guy below is particularly good and does the full flush method..

Have the parts and going to do the work myself. Should be a real doddle (he says knowingly) Not:D

yep 5 speed. I bought Comma Oil @ £11.00 for 5 L from my trade suppliers So very happy with that and iv'e used it in every auto I've ever had with no problems. Merc stuff is £9.50 per litre:(

Just because you have "used it in every auto I've ever had with no problems." does not necessarily mean you will be able to use it in this gearbox.

I would strongly suggest you check that the specification is fully compatible with the MB oil specification before changing it. Buying the correct and compatible oil is far cheaper than repairing or replacing the gearbox ;)

I assume the oil you have bought is Dexron 3?

its comma AQM Mineral Oil Dextron 2 and 2 D hope its the right stuff

Well if you love a car then why sell. I used to have a c200 that was in excellent condition and believe me is was hard to part with. :-)

I'm sure the dealers were pleased you didn't sell as the sight of you in the buff in their show room might have put other customers off.

So he can start a new thread telling us how he nearly let her go but realised he loves her so much and is keeping her?

Is one required to ask permission now? or has there been another incident...!

No incidents that I'm aware of. I was just surprised to read that the OP is selling his car, as he'd recently made many posts on how much he liked it and had just done quite a bit of servicing work to it.

He was going to cherish it to his dying day here

I didn't necessarily take that to be literally true!

It is not the right oil.

The sealed for life gearbox requires a fully synthetic oil, but I'm not sure of the exact spec. I just had my trusted transmission specialist do the same job on my W202.
