cruise control problem w211 with 18" wheels

Hi need some advice..ive upgraded my wheels on the e class from the standard 16" to 18" brabus replicas
The cruise control on the car works upto 59 mph when i engage it between 60 - 70 mph it doesnt work, i get 3 flashing dashs with MPH on my instrument cluster, cruise works again over 70 mphs...
Its been to MB dealer 3 times who advised me on the last vist due to the size of the 18" wheels the car doesnt acknowledge the speed......so im after some advise from you guys as to whether this is true or the dealers feeding me bull....as im sure theres plenty of members and w211 owners who have upgraded from 16" to 18" wheels with no probs?.......thanks

i cant comment for the 211, but the 202 i replaced 17`s with 18`s and cruise has been fine, also if your rolling circumfrence is the same (ie smaller tyre width) it should be fine

My S211 runs 2454/40/18 front and 275/35/18 rear and is fine.
The sport version runs 265/35/18 without issue or software changes, but I have been informed that if the difference in diameters exceeds a certain threshold, then the cruise will not function. Do you have a large dia. difference in the tyres? Could wear on one end tip it over the threshhold?

im afraid i havent got a clue what the diameterof the tyres are. The front and back are a different makes but same size tires. Im going to replace the wheels with the standard ones and see if ive still got the prob with the cruise...thanks for the advice..

as the overall size of your wheel/tyre is different from what the cruise control is calibrated with , this is why you have a problem

The tyre size on your car should be 245/40 18 all round if the wheels are the same size or 245/40 18 front and 265/35 18 if the wheel sizes are staggered.
