CTEK charger connector installed in the engine room?

I Loewe Old Skool AMG
I have used my CTEK for many years.
It's been working great.
I bought an extra cable connector from CTEK and I screwed this quick fit connector to my battery in the trunk.
Now I don't have to use any battery clamps on pos-neg terminals.

My Q is.
In the engine room there is a power terminal box pos/neg which I have highlighted with a red circle.
I have an extra cable connector which can be screwed on the pos/neg terminals in the engine room.
Would this front quick fit cable connector charge my battery from the engine room delivering juice back to the trunk where the battery is?
It's more convenient placing my charger in the engine room instead of putting it in the trunk?

Can I charge my battery from the front power terminal?

Thanks

I've no doubt either method will charge the battery but I suspect all of the battery charger manufacturers would advise only charging direct from the battery.

so it's a no good fitting a CTEK cable connector onto the +/- power terminal box where you also can jump start the car?

If in the engine compartment there is a designated charging point then I see no reason why you should not use it (is it identified as a charging point in the handbook?). I've used charging points away from the battery on a number of cars and have also connected direct to the battery and found no difference.

It will still work, but as the CTEK monitors the battery voltage and switches stages automatically, would connecting directly to the battery not give the correct voltages?

My idea was based on, depending how I park my car in the garage.
If I go in with the front then I could connect my charger to the connector in engine bay close to the wall mounted power socket.
If I put it in reverse and park my car backwards then I could use the trunk connector close to the wall mounted power socket.

I would like to use either connector front or rear depending on how I park my car in the garage.
This is only for convenience not having to use an extra extension cord for the charger.

Maybe I should ask my $tealership if this is a safe way to charge my battery connecting a quick fit connector to power terminal in the engine room?

I modified the CTEK lead terminals to enable me to loosen the battery terminals just enough to push them between the washer and re tighten the nuts...ran the plug to near the washer fill up bottle...hey presto....I used a pair of wire cutters to open the wire connectors from a hole to a horse shoe shape...Mine's a 2016 model S205

Found this on the 'net from Mercedes................................

Observe the following points during starting assistance and when charging the battery:
  • Only use undamaged jump leads/charging cables with a sufficient cross-section and insulated terminal clamps.

  • Non-insulated parts of the terminal clamps must not come into contact with other metal parts while the jump lead/charging cable is connected to the battery/jump-start connection point.

  • The jump lead/charging cable must not come into contact with any parts which may move when the engine is running.

  • Always make sure that neither you nor the battery is electrostatically charged.

  • Keep away from fire and naked flames.

  • Do not lean over the battery.

  • When charging: only use battery chargers tested and approved by Mercedes-Benz and read the battery charger's operating instructions before charging the battery.

This is a picture of the install I did on my SLK.

That's what I had in mind doing something similar using the terminal box.
Thanks
Lots of people have done this with their SLKs , have a look on SLK World.com and do a search on Ctek chargers . You will find better pics and more details on their . Hope this helps

Much obliged. :)

I found an extra connector hiding in my toolbox.
I'll hook it up soon.

Thanks everyone
