Custom Exhaust in the N/W

As I have just found out that both my front cats are faulty
I thought I would go for a full custom system, which will be a lot cheaper than 2 cats from Merc. So can anybody recommend a good company in the Northwest?

Not that near to you but P.D. Gough in Nottingham have a good rep. Derek aka Pontoneer had a full stainless system fitted by them a short while ago IIRC.

I have been to Pipeworx, last year I think it was. Wrighington way if I remember rightly. They have a great workshop on a small industrial estate. They appear to be fully geared up to do just about anything with exhausts. I was only dropping something off but they are very friendly and approachable. Got to be worth the phone call.

yep spoke to pipewerx they seem to have very good feedback on the Audi and VW forums, but not sure if they have done many Merc's

We have a good stainless custom exhaust supplier based in Yorkshire, Audi A8, 2 x sports cats and full system manifold back £600, decat on my W208 230k and full system £350, can put you in touch direct if you wish they done a few members cars on here now.

There is every possibility that the emissions will be fine without the cat.

I spoke to Pipewerx last week. I am taking my car to them next week hopefully for de-cat. They have a good report from a member on here. Sound friendly on the telephone and talked me through the questions I asked. Price quoted was very good too.

I had it made and fitted in st helens at what used to be urban racing . if you want ill try and send you some images of my exhaust and a contact number..


He also made a straight through de cat system for my mate. 4inch pipe direct from his turbo dropping down to a twin 3inch tailpipe. oh you can even pick how loud you want it

These guys are not in N/W but for a couple of hours drive they are excellent. I have used them for 3 of my cars in the past (none merc though) They even had a loaner car so I could take the missus shopping in town (they also offer a group discounts)

AFAIK the MOT does not require a cat to be present but it does require the emissions regs to be met. If your car is a borderline pass with the cat then it will likely fail without the cat.

mine cost £280 and that was from the back box which is under the drivers seat up around the spare wheel and out on both sides. So straight from the manifold might be a bit extra
