DAB radio?

I wouldn't bother with DAB mine just switches to FM every two minutes due to signal. It only works I find on an open motorway. Around town its hit and miss.

There is a problem with yours - there was an issue with cars with Tom Tom live traffic (where the live traffic GSM transmission interfered with the DAB reception).

MB issued software and new antenna amps to help (and then moved the aerials on newer cars !)

NTG4.5 DAB works well in both my W166 ML and my W176 A class (but note there is another bug happening around where i live - see a thread I am about to post)

Yup it can - we do quite a few. Need to know if your car is NTG4 (PCMCIA) slot COMAND, or NTG4.5 (SD slot) COMAND

If its NTG4 there are aftermarket integrated options with a windscreen antenna, or "as per factory", and NTG4.5 its as per factory with an aftermarket version due in about 6-8 weeks too

Be very interested to know more about the NTG4.5 with the aftermarket version.
Had a quote for the factory fit version, which was expensive approx £1300 .

Ask Alfie to keep you on the list of people interested :-) The company (in2digi) that makes the fully integrated retrofit is making new hardware/software for NTG4.5 cars.

This new unit will (by default) us a windscreen mount aerial, but we'll be able to install factory antenna system with it (as I asked them to switch the antenna phantom feed voltage to be same as the Mercedes (and Jaguar Landcover) phantom feed voltage that powers the factory antenna amplifier.

So there will be a range of options for you

Bit of a thread revival, as the last bastion of FM stations worth listening to has gone DAB only in my area there literally isn't an FM station I can tolerate so I'm back looking towards a DAB solution for my 2015 W246 with audio 20 NTG5*1 (SD slot but not comand online). Are there any solutions such as the usb MP3 emulation on the market? I hate the idea of having to add another device like Pure types.
TIA

PaulKH - the USB Dab solution generally available (Dension) doesn't work well with NTG5*1.
If yours is a navigation capable Audio-20 then it has a fibre port and integrated factory DAB can thus be retrofitted, bit it is still very expensive as the tuner is £££ and you need two antenna amplifiers etc as it uses a dual tuner

Cheers

Thanks for the reply Richard, my unit does have garmin navigation but given the cost and ball ache of retrofitting it with factory DAB it looks like my only option is one of those horrid little dash mounted adapters :( incidentally and a little off topic, does anyone know if I can use a bluetooth DAB tuner and my phone at the same time? I know I can connect my phone to a bluetooth tuner but obviously I'll lose the phone controls on the steering wheel.

With the Pure Highway 300, I have, the small controller sits unobtrusively in the space vacated by the ashtray, the main unit being hidden away under the glove box. So unobtrusive, that when my car was broken into, this was left behind. Try to find a used one on Ebay and give it a whirl, wiring it up is simple . Someone ( I am sorry I forget whom ), some long time ago posted pics of his fitment, and I just copied this.
Pics of mine in the ashtray.

Looking at DAB solutions for all 3 vehicles and with help from Santa hope to have L200 & SLK sorted.

E cab has Comand ntg 4.5 with SD card slot and media interface & usb in the armrest. Currently use usb with a mini usb stick loaded with music. It’s 13 plate but doesn’t have DAB.
Is Mercedes USB DAB the easy solution? I see that there is a thin film antenna mentioned. Where is this mounted and where is it wired back to?

I've ended up getting a Pure Highway 200, I'll use it via FM, that way I can simply add the Pure as an FM preset and the other half can still listen to the modern crap she insists on listening to and also won't affect the phone pairing, just wondering if I'll dash mount it or hide it in one of the cars little hidey holes as I can't see me flicking through stations that often, depends on the cable lengths I guess

Don't you have a 3.5mm aux input? You get far better sound than by re-broadcasting an FM signal.

I used to do a lot of driving up and down the country and it was difficult to find a free FM frequency that worked everywhere

When you retrofit DAB you end up with an antenna stuck to front windscreen
