Hi
Looking to fit my dash cam into my CLS, can I mount it on the dash not in the window. Are there any special fittings I would need to do this.
The electric conection will be done by a professional fitter.
Many Thanks

Colin, are you sure you'll be getting an acceptable view of the road and vehicles close up? There's another downside that it'll be very visible when you park up, tempting opportunistic thieves.

I'd urge you to reconsider putting it up to the RVM and sensor area where it had the best field of vision and can be relatively anonymous. Bonuses are the cable can be fed round the windscreen and your can use the existing fixings.

But best of luck if you go ahead with the dashboard install. Share pics if it works out all right!

Thanks for the advice I don’t have a problem fitting where you recommend but will it stay attached to the window can the suction cup be glued on and if so what with
I don’t want it coming off
Thanks

A lot of the more popular Dashcams come with both suction type mount, and an adhesive mount - this will stop it from becoming detached

As CJD says. Personally I prefer an adhesive mount with a quick-release mechanism, so I can easily remove the dashcam if needed. To do that I bought some generic GoPro-compatible mounts with 1/4" camera mount threads that fit my dashcam, like this. YMMV.

Many Thanks to both of you I’ll checkout the adhesive mount fitting.

Cheers

Colin,

Take a look at the DDPai M6 Plus. I've been using one for about a year now and its a great piece of kit. One of it's huge benefits is that its magnetically attached to its mount so easily removable to keep it out of sight, its not expensive either and has great features and records in great quality.

Best of luck,

Rob ..

I have one of the above and it's messed my phone up big time, eats data and is a Royal pita ,but then again I'm not very tech savvy and can't speak Chinese, it tends to freeze and rant in Chinese until I disconnect the power supply and have to wait for the battery to go flat until it goes quiet
It does have a good mounting system though

I would think yours may be faulty. I have had this camera for over a year with no problems whatsoever. Could you return it for a replacement?

I like the look of this so much, and the very good reviews it gets on YouTube that I have ordered one for myself.
Thanks for the the post

I'll get my tech savvy son(12) who will most likely show me what I've done wrong,I like the look and feel of this camera

As an aside ... do people really still break into cars to nick dashcams? It's not like leaving a GoPro on view!

Fair point ... In actual fact I haven't removed mine once before leaving the car.

Just to add Marty (and son):), make sure your phone and camera are running the latest versions of their respective software and if there's still any issues, you could well have a fault but I'd imagine thats unlikely.
Incidentally I have an iPhone 7 running the latest software (11.2.6). Hope this helps you out.

Very best,

Rob ...

I all and thanks you for the advice, just letting you know that I had my dashcam fitted with a permanent mount, in the top of the screen.
All good, thanks again

Hi
I’m fitting a dash cam but don’t want to take over this thread so I’m just starting another about how to wire up a dash cam, mainly how to feed the wires through. Any help appreciated!
