I have the strip LED drl just above the front fogs on my CLK which I think look ok, but I have also upgraded my Front Fogs to HID which are 6k, I recently fitted a Smart top module as mine is a Cab and there is a feature that you can use on the smart top that lets you use the Fogs as DRL, so am thinking maybe remove the strip LED drl and use the fogs as DRL keeping the look OEM as you want to do Karl.

Here's a thought to keep the oem look.
Relocate the bulbs out of harms way using the original wiring. This will defeat the bulb failure sensor ( they will need to be earthed). This also allows you to revert to original if you wish.
Fit some of the h1/h4 or whatever they are led bulbs you can get from Ebay into the foglight housing and live them up. This would need a simple circuit to dim/extinguish them with lights on.
Voila! Led drls plus oem look AND easy to revert back.
Don't know how bright they would be though.

Any members here fitted these to a C63 amg as the fog lights are very rarely used?
