Dead battery

I have a 230 W208 which is giving me a little bother. I came home one night to find that my battery was completly dead. There was a strange noise coming from the engine compartment, perhaps the alarm?. In any event using the mechanical key I managed to open my car and replaced the battery. Trouble is that now even with a brand new battery the car still will not start. The engine sounds willing but will not start. Does anyone have any ideas?

Just wondering if your car is still immobilised.

Try locking and unlocking the car with the remote a couple of times.
Agree with John, sounds like the immobiliser is still activated.

You could also try switching on the ignition for a few minutes BEFORE trying to start. This brings all the electrics back to life.
