Dealer arrogance or panic?

Is it customary for the service dept at the dealers you bought your car from, to ring and ask when you want to book it in for a service? (service is 20 days away according to the OBC)

I've never had a phone call advising service is due but always been notified by post.

I can't recall ever getting anything - certainly not a call. I suppose with the old variable servicing they wouldn't know, but mine usually runs to the 2yr deadline anyway. Certainly didn't get a reminder for the recent MOT.

We have 3 other makes of car in our house and the others all write and/or call.

They call me sometimes. I let them waffle a bit.

I got notified by post and then two days later I got a call...

With less than 20 days until your next service is due the dealership service manager is probably worried you havn't booked your car in & might take it somewhere else so thought a courtesey call my persuade you;)
