Detailed the inside of my W211

Wow what a car. Have you done any special maintenance or works for the engine ?

Yeap, done some special changes as well as non special changes 🙂

SPECIAL CHANGES
Headbolts changed from T55 to E14
Black Series hydraulic lifters
Black series engine mounts
Black series transmission mounts
63motorsport camshaft adjuster plates

NON SPECIAL CHANGES
New injectors replaced at 120k (should be changed every 60k as preventative measure)
New PCV valve
New Air intake gasket
New Arnott rear springs
New battery
Catch can

Above works carried out by me, labour of love ❤️

Most parts unnecessarily changed. Learnt a lot, from setting the timing, changing head bolts to rebuilding the intake manifold and had so much fun along the way. The engine is a delight to work on, very rewarding too.

Chassis wise, I upgraded the front wheels, running 10j and lowered the suspension using adjustable links. Recently repainted the front and rear bumpers too and also replaced all the chrome trims.

This summer planning to do the gearbox oil and filter and also the standard service that I do. Need to update the software for my auto folding mirrors. Its forgotten automatically fold when I changed the battery.

Fantastic - Literally everything you've done is (unfortunately) on my list. Gotta get the subframe replaced first and rusty brake lines in 2 weeks a la Mercedes and my dealer needs to cover that which they've agreed to do.

Only work im initially doing is wheel tracking and balancing, the car vibrates above 70mph like a cat lady's favourite toy in intense mode. Then after my 2 week Cornwall trip concludes

I'll try and get the rattle on bumps sorted by the dealer (shocks ? The ride is pretty harsh , far harsher than my facelift S )
Engine mounts need replacing-v unlikely they'll do it under their warranty
Transmission seems to be slipping a bit more than default- have complained to dealer about it (I assume it's the transmission rather than engine misfiring - there's no codes at all) they'll get it looked at when I drop the car back
Sunroof netting is conveniently duct taped

1 x sensor for blind spot assist sensor replacement - probably won't be covered. Don't need blind spot assist so I'm not rushing to get it done. The distronic works perfectly

At the next service in Oct- spark plugs, diff oil, and pcv , fuel injectors

Aftermarket window rear window tinting

Driver side exhaust straightening , seems a bit recessed ( plus maybe muffler or resonator delete)

Post warranty period - headbolts and checking cam health provided no major issues in the meantime. Air Intake manifold check and possible replacement

Looks like a doable list. I reckon most bits will be much sorted like the wheel alignment and rear tinted windows, which are quick wins. It'll definitely keep you busy this summer, hopefully you get to enjoy the results 🙂

Thanks man. I hope so 🤣, I really hope this is the last car I buy for the next 5 or so years... those s213 e63s wagons though 😵‍💫😵‍💫 I'm like a moth to a flame. I think I'll need to do the front brake lines too . 1x TPMS that's missing, dashcam front and rear, auto watch ghost. Just need to find the right garage to do the engine work

It was fresh, sharp and cold today but no wind, perfect weather for some detailing. I decided to clean and polish the slam panel, may try the bonnet hinge mechanism tomorrow. Need an old toothbrush and lollipop stick for the hard to reach bits 🙂

That's remarkable for a car parked outside

It's usually under vented cover, so does get a bit of protection from the elements and I do avoid taking it out when it's wet. The previous owner looked aftered it too, so it's a good example to own 👍

I've found the headlights on my W211 fog up almost every year even though I get them cut back and polished back to transparent. Very annoying - is there a coating one can apply to prevent this?

I believe a good quality ceramic coating is usually applied after the lens has been cut back with polish.

For me i discovered the best route is to replace the lens by separating it from the headlight. Headlight will look new. Occasionally keep up with headlight lens cutting compound of your choice. I use of the shelf Meguires Plast-RX Clear Plastic Headlight Cleaner & Polish. Should last longer than sanding an old lens👍

Tks 👍

You really need to spray them over with a UV resistant clear coat. That is what went yellow in the first place and now you have polished it all off you leave the lens with no UV protection at all so it will oxidize faster than ever.
